Ok, so most of us probably know quite a few ways to "find" a spectators card and some ways to reveal it. I've noticed something while experimenting with the classic force (btw, man it feels great when that one works). The thing I noticed is that the way the card is revealed may actually kind of ruin the reactions you'll get.

Here's a small example. Let's say you used a classic force, then go into a relatively long routine that involves shuffles, card counting/controlling, maybe a magician's choice. In the end, you may have a nice reveal, like spelling the card. BUT because of the whole routine, people may have forgotten how extremely fair the selection was.

Over here in the netherlands, people usually get suspicious when they can't shuffle the cards. And for some odd reason laymen here don't realy know the concept of "cutting cards" here, we only "shuffle" (mostly overhand, riffle shuffles are allready considered quite fancy). This means that controlling the card after it has been selected (meaning the spectators don't get to shuffle the deck), is allready considered "unfair" by most people. This means that having a more spectacualr way to reveal the card that involves more steps with spectator interaction makes the trick "more fair".

So in short I found that the fairer the selection was, the shorter the time for the reveal should be. Now I'm curious about what other people think of this. And maybe a solution for controlling a card and still letting a spectator shuffle the deck.
